Privacy Policy
Your files never leave your device. This page explains that in detail — and is equally clear about the limited data the website itself does involve.
The short version: Files you open in any PDFBison tool are processed entirely inside your browser and are never uploaded, transmitted, stored, or seen by us. We have no ability to access them. Like most free websites, PDFBison does use standard web services — advertising, analytics, fonts and a code library host — which involve limited technical data. Everything below explains exactly what that means.
1. Who we are
PDFBison ("we", "us", "the site") operates the website at pdfbison.com/, which provides free browser-based tools for working with PDF and image files. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the site. For questions about anything here, please use our contact page.
2. Your files: what happens to them
This is the most important section on this page.
Every tool on PDFBison is built to run entirely on your own device. When you select or drag a file into a tool, that file is opened by your web browser using your device’s own processor and memory. The compression, conversion, merging, splitting or other processing happens locally. The finished file is saved directly to your device.
Specifically:
- Your files are never uploaded to PDFBison or to any third party.
- We do not receive, store, copy, cache, transmit, view, analyse or process your files in any way.
- We have no technical ability to access them. There is no file storage system on our side that could contain them.
- Nothing about a file’s contents, name, size or type is sent to us or logged by us.
- When you close or reload the tool page, the file is cleared from your browser’s memory.
You can verify this yourself: load any tool page, disconnect from the internet, and use the tool. It will work normally, because it does not need a network connection to process your file. You can also inspect your browser’s developer tools (Network tab) and observe that your document is never transmitted.
3. Information we do not collect
We do not ask for, and do not have, any of the following:
- Accounts, usernames or passwords — the site has no login system
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address (unless you voluntarily email us)
- Payment details — nothing on the site is paid
- Any content, metadata or information derived from your files
4. Information that is involved in running the site
Being honest here matters more than sounding perfectly private. PDFBison is a free website funded by advertising, and it relies on standard web infrastructure. These services involve limited technical data — none of it related to your files.
4.1 Server logs
Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, device type, the page requested, referring page, and the date and time. This is standard server operation, used for security, troubleshooting and understanding traffic volumes. It does not contain anything about your files.
4.2 Cookies and advertising
PDFBison displays advertisements to cover its costs. We use Google AdSense, which is provided by Google.
- Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- If you are in a region requiring consent for advertising cookies (such as the EEA or UK), a consent notice is presented before such cookies are set, and you may change your choice at any time.
Advertising cookies relate to browsing activity across websites. They have no connection to the files you process here, because those files are never transmitted anywhere.
4.3 Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are used and where problems occur — for example, how many people visited a page, which country they were in at a country level, and which browser they used. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify individuals, and never involves file contents.
4.4 Third-party technical services
| Service | Purpose | What it may receive |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Loading the site’s typefaces | Your IP address and browser type when the font file is requested |
| cdnjs (Cloudflare) | Delivering the open-source code libraries that make the tools work in your browser | Your IP address and browser type when the library is requested |
| Google AdSense | Displaying advertisements | Advertising cookie data as described above |
| Web hosting provider | Serving the website | Standard server log data as described above |
These services receive a request for a file (a font, a script, an ad) — never your document. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
5. Local storage in your browser
Some pages may store small preferences locally on your device — such as a remembered setting — using your browser’s own storage. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
6. Children
PDFBison is a general-purpose utility website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the site has no accounts and collects no personal details, there is very little scope for such collection to occur.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data relating to you — including rights of access, correction, deletion and objection, and, in some regions, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.
Because we do not hold accounts, file contents or personal profiles, there is normally very little data for such a request to cover. For matters relating to advertising cookies, the opt-out links in section 4.2 give you direct control. If you wish to make a request or ask what applies to you, please contact us.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, so the connection between your browser and our server is encrypted. Because your files are never transmitted, the most significant category of risk associated with online file tools — interception, breach or misuse of uploaded documents — does not apply here. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but a file that is never sent cannot be intercepted in transit or exposed in a server breach.
9. Links to other sites
Our pages may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops or as legal requirements change. The revision date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. If a change ever affected the core promise that your files are not uploaded, we would state that prominently rather than burying it here.
11. Contact
Questions, concerns or requests about privacy can be sent through our contact page. We aim to respond to reasonable enquiries promptly.
This policy is written to be read and understood rather than to be legally impenetrable. It is provided for information and does not constitute legal advice; if you require a policy tailored to a specific jurisdiction or business circumstance, consult a qualified professional.
