Why convert PNG to JPG?

PNG stores images losslessly, which makes it perfect for screenshots and graphics — and very large. A full-screen PNG screenshot often weighs several megabytes where the same image as JPG is a few hundred kilobytes. When an upload form has a size cap, an email has an attachment limit, or a page needs to load quickly, JPG is the practical choice.

The trade-off, honestly

JPG compresses by discarding detail your eye is unlikely to notice. For photographs the result is excellent. For screenshots containing small text or sharp graphic edges, heavy compression can introduce faint fuzziness around the letters — so choose High quality when the screenshot contains text you need people to read.

Transparency becomes white

JPG has no concept of transparency, so transparent areas are flattened onto a white background — the standard, expected result. If you need to keep transparency, use our JPG to PNG tool in the other direction, or keep the PNG.

Private by architecture

Screenshots contain dashboards, chats and account details. PDFBison converts entirely in your browser — zero bytes are uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG for free?
Drop your PNG files into the tool above, pick a quality level, and press Convert. A single file downloads as a JPG; multiple files arrive together as one ZIP.
Why is my PNG so much bigger than a JPG?
PNG is lossless — it stores every pixel exactly, which is ideal for graphics but produces large files. JPG discards imperceptible detail, typically cutting the size by 80–90% for the same image.
Will text in my screenshot stay readable?
At High quality, yes. Heavier compression can add slight fuzziness around small text, so choose High whenever the screenshot contains text that matters.
What happens to transparent parts of the PNG?
They're flattened onto a white background, since JPG doesn't support transparency. To keep transparency, stay with PNG.
Can I convert multiple PNGs at once?
Yes — add as many as you like. They convert in sequence and download together as a single ZIP, with no daily limits.
Is it safe to convert screenshots online?
With PDFBison, yes — nothing is uploaded. Conversion happens entirely in your browser on your own device.
